Modèle:Traduction Christopher Merrett (February 16, 1614 – August 19, 1695), Fellow of the Royal Society, was an English physician and scientist. In 1662 he presented the Royal Society with a paper called Some Observations concerning the Ordering of Wines [1] in which he detailed the secondary fermentation of wine in order to create sparkling wine. This was done over 30 years prior to the work of Dom Perignon who is generally considered the inventor of Champagne, the famous sparkling wine made in the Champagne region of France.
